Since 2005, I have been working to reduce my reliance on commercially supplied materials and fuel. I built an energy efficient wood-fueled kiln to use fallen wood I collect from my neighborhood. I use local clay that I dig and process myself. Most of my pottery has a liner glaze, but the outside surface is created simply by the ash in the atmosphere of the kiln interacting with the clay and forming a glaze.
